Apple debuted a new iPod + iTunes ad tonight on television. The ad continues the silhouette dancer theme of Apple's long running iPod ads. The ad is featured on Apple's iTunes product page. (direct QuickTime link)

With the release of iTunes 7.5, Apple promised support for a new iPod game called "Phase" (iTunes link). The game was released yesterday to iTunes and sells for $4.99.

Apple today added new models of the iPhone and iPod touch which have double the memory. The new 16GB iPhone is available for $499, while the 8GB model remains at $399. The 32GB iPod touch comes in at $499 while 16GB and 8GB models are priced at $399 and $299, respectively.

Apple broadcast a new iPod touch advertisement during American Idol last night. The new advertisement features a table full of iPod touches showing off various features including Photos, Cover Flow, Weather, Notes, Web Browsing, Mail and Video playback.

Apple's iPod Classic and iPod Nano has been updated to 1.0.2 via iTunes.

The iPod Touch has started to arrive at Apple Stores.

Rumors earlier today from iLounge suggested that Apple would act as a gatekeeper for iPhone and iPod Touch applications based on their upcoming Software Development Kit (SDK). As gatekeeper, Apple would individually review new applications by 3rd party developers to decide whether or not they are allowed for inclusion in the Apple iTunes Store. The exact criteria for this rumored approval is unknown, but some have expressed concerns that this practice could seriously restrict application development on the iPhone

Readers report that this week's Circuit City Ad (page 20) is advertising a purple iPod nano.

In a press release Nike and Apple announced upcoming plans for the Nike + iPod partnership. Both Nike and Apple will work with several gym equipment manufacturers such as Life Fitness, Precor, Star Trac and Technogym to make their cardio equipment Nike + iPod compatible so health club members can easily track workouts on cardio equipment like treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes and stair climbers.
