Apple today added new models of the iPhone and iPod touch which have double the memory. The new 16GB iPhone is available for $499, while the 8GB model remains at $399. The 32GB iPod touch comes in at $499 while 16GB and 8GB models are priced at $399 and $299, respectively.

Rumors earlier today from iLounge suggested that Apple would act as a gatekeeper for iPhone and iPod Touch applications based on their upcoming Software Development Kit (SDK). As gatekeeper, Apple would individually review new applications by 3rd party developers to decide whether or not they are allowed for inclusion in the Apple iTunes Store. The exact criteria for this rumored approval is unknown, but some have expressed concerns that this practice could seriously restrict application development on the iPhone

The Apple iPod has been one of the coolest gadgets to hit the technology scene in the 21st century. Anyone remotely familiar with music or technology is the past couple years has probably become painfully aware of Apple's iPod and the millions of relating products marketed to accompany it. However, it should also be noticed that a new version of the device comes out fairly frequently. While past generations of the iPod only introduced minor changes at a time, such as the buttons on the second generation, and the picture/video capacity on the newest generations, a revolutionary change is about to take place on the music playback device.

Apple can be considered the reigning king of the world of portable audio players. Everyone has some sort of iPod, whether it's the Mini, Video, Photo, or Shuffle, Apple is the most well-known brand of audio players around. Although Apple's authority may soon be challenged by, Creative Lab's, Zen Vision:M, which contains many of the same features and abilities that the iPod has, and it also has features and abilities that the iPod does not have. Based on my personal experience with both the iPod and the Zen, I would have to say that I believe that the Zen is the better overall audio/video player.

Many people have serious complaints about iTunes. Some of the most common complaints are that iTunes is slow, and is a resource hog. Also common are complaints about sound and video quality during playback. Although iTunes has improved slightly in the last few releases there are still many bug in it. Yet most people continue to use iTunes, why? Because they don't realize that you can still sync your iPod with programs other than iTunes
